How to apply for a Capitec account or credit
Capitec offers a streamlined application process, whether you prefer to apply online, via their app, or in-branch.
Applying via the Capitec App (Remote Onboarding)
- Download the app: Get the Capitec Bank app from your app store.
- Scan your face and ID: Use the app to scan your South African ID and take a selfie. The app uses facial recognition to verify your identity against the Department of Home Affairs database.
- Enter details: Fill in your personal and employment information.
- Credit check: If applying for credit, the app will instantly calculate your personalized offer.
- Accept: Review the terms and accept the offer.
Applying in-branch
- Visit a branch: Go to any Capitec branch with your original ID and latest payslip.
- Consultation: A consultant will capture your details and take your fingerprints for biometric verification.
- Assessment: The system will process your application and present available credit options.
- Card issuance: If opening a Global One account, your personalized debit card will be printed instantly in the branch.
