FNB Personal Loan snapshot
This page reviews the FNB Personal Loan at fnb.co.za/loans/personal-loan.html. The lender is First National Bank, a division of FirstRand Bank Limited, credit provider NCRCP20, company 1929/001225/06. FNB runs no private rate card: every percentage below comes from that site or the FAQ PDF.
Amount, term, and how interest is disclosed
You can borrow from R1,000 (FAQ PDF) to R450,000. Repayment runs up to 72 months. The instalment is fixed for the signed term. Official long-term pricing (1–66/72 months) is a minimum 15.15% and a maximum 28.00% a year, the NCA cap. Short-term credit of 1–6 months is disclosed at up to 5% a month (NCA max). Prime lending stood at 10.50% on the FNB rates page dated 2026-05-29. That prime print is a reference, not the APR FNB will type on your quotation.
Worked example on the official page
FNB shows R30,000 over 24 months at 18%: R1,796 a month including fees, credit-life illustration R100, monthly service R69, initiation R1,207.50, total cost R41,445. Treat those figures as the bank’s illustration, not a promise that you will land on 18%.
Extra product rules from the FAQ PDF
A top-up drops the initiation charge and still carries one R69 service fee. Take-a-break skips January on terms longer than 7 months when the debit order or EFT is current. Credit life is mandatory on those longer terms.
