Capitec Personal Loan versus other SA bank instalment credit
Start with what Capitec has actually published. The calculator cites R1,000–R500,000 and 7–84 months. The rates page dated 29 May 2026 showed a floor of 12.50% a year and an illustration of R50,000 over 48 months at 22% totalling R84,811 (initiation R1,207.50, monthly service R69, credit-life illustration). Other banks print different bands. Do not copy a competitor’s maximum onto this page.
| Product | What we can state here |
|---|---|
| Capitec Personal Loan | Calculator R1,000–R500,000; 7–84 months; floor 12.50% a year; example 22% / R84,811 |
| Capitec Credit Facility | Revolving draw-down line from the same bank; not this contract |
| Other bank personal loans | Read each linked review and that bank’s quotation |
Instalment loan versus revolving products
If you need a closed lump sum, stay on this loan. If you need reusable spend, look at Capitec’s Credit Facility or the card reviewed at /za/credit-cards/capitec/overview. Mixing those three products in one budget conversation is how people sign the wrong agreement.
Against other bank personal loans
Side-by-side cost only works when you hold two quotations with the same rand amount and term. Use the reviews for Standard Bank Personal Loan and FNB Personal Loan as the next reading list, then compare total cost of credit, not a single advertised percentage.
Verdict
Pick Capitec Personal Loan when the calculator band fits and you already bank in the Capitec app (offers often appear there). Pick another NCR-registered bank if that bank’s quotation is cheaper for the same term. Confirm every number on the pre-agreement statement.
