CreditBar's application takes a few minutes on creditbar.co.za. Have your SA ID, bank account details and three months of bank statements ready before you start — incomplete uploads are the most common cause of delay.
Document Upload Best Practices
- Bank statements: Upload full PDF statements for three consecutive months, not screenshots of individual transactions.
- ID document: Photograph your green ID book or smart ID card in good light without glare over your ID number.
- Bank account: Use the account where your salary is deposited — this speeds up income verification.
- Contact details: Ensure your mobile number is active; CreditBar may use SMS for status updates.
What Happens After You Submit?
CreditBar runs an automated affordability assessment and standard credit bureau checks as required by the NCA. If approved, you receive a pre-agreement quotation listing the total repayable amount, interest, fees and due date. You are not committed until you sign digitally and approve the DebiCheck mandate.
Common Reasons for Decline
- Insufficient disposable income after the affordability test.
- Mismatch between ID name and bank account holder.
- Current debt review, administration or sequestration.
- Incomplete or unreadable bank statements.
- Recent defaults or severe arrears on your credit profile.
Tips for Faster Approval
Apply before 14:00 on a banking day, keep statement files under 5 MB, and approve the DebiCheck mandate in your banking app immediately after signing — payout will not proceed without it.
